Step 1- Get OpenSolaris

Assuming you are intrigued by the storage components of OpenSolaris, this step by step guide will help you get up and running quickly.

Start by getting OpenSolaris.

Step 2- Evaluate which storage profile to select

For OpenSolaris 2008.11, there are two storage profiles. Scan the contents and decide which one you want.

Step 3- Install your selected profile

After installing OpenSolaris, double-click the “Add More Software” icon on the desktop.

Select "Storage" from the categories section of the tool (left side)

And then chose either the storage-nas or storage-server profile. In this case we've chosen storage-server.

Finally click the Install/Update button to install the packages.
