Configuring Multiple Screens on the Toshiba M10 Notebook With NVIDIA Graphics
You can configure the internal LCD panel and an external monitor connected to the Toshiba M10 notebook in one of the following ways:
• Cloned mode. Presents the same graphics on both displays. This mode is most useful in environments where you are presenting the same materials to multiple viewers, such as for a class, seminar, or presentation.
• Spanned mode. Stretches a single X screen across both displays where windows can cross the the physical display boundaries. This mode is most useful when you want a larger desktop.
• Separate mode. Creates two independent X screens for each display. While the cursor can cross from one display to the other, windows cannot. This mode is most useful when different attributes are needed for each display or when using StarOffice to show a full screen presentation on the external display (Slide Show -> Slide Show Settings... -> Presentation monitor).
How to Configure Cloned Mode
1. Start the NVIDIA configuration program.
Go to Preferences -> NVIDIA X Server Settings.
2. Select X Server Display Configuration from the menu on the left.
Only the M10 panel appears if the external display was not connected when the desktop was started.

The Layout panel shows the 1600x1200 CRT on the left:
Note that the area under the internal LCD represents pixels that will not be visible due to the mismatched display resolutions.
To enable panning to gain access to these pixels, click Advanced and choose the internal panel:
To enable panning on the area below the internal LCD, set the panning domain to 1440x1200 to match the vertical resolution of the CRT on the left.
This area in the Layout panel will change color to indicate that it is now part of the panning domain:
Virtual panning works by moving the cursor to the top or bottom edge of the display to shift the screen area up or down.
