New to the platform
Getting Started
With the OpenSolaris 2009.06 release there are a number of install images available. We recommend that if you are new to OpenSolaris and running on an x86/x64 system, you should start with the LiveCD giving you the opportunity of booting directly off the CD to a complete desktop environment before you install it to your system.
The OpenSolaris Automated Install images are for use with the Automated Install, allowing you to install OpenSolaris onto a system remotely.
If you are already using another operating system, why not try out VirtualBox? VirtualBox is cross-platform virtualization software for x86 based systems. VirtualBox is easy to use and requires no dedicated hardware. It installs on top of the
Solaris 10, Windows, Linux or Mac OS X operating systems.
